Elizabeth Ellis was born in Ketchikan and raised in Cordova, Alaska. Elizabeth received a Bachelor's degree of Art at University of Alaska Anchorage in 2011. She has been showing her work around Anchorage since 2007 from solo shows at Alaska Pacific University to group and collaboration shows at Out North Contemporary Art House. Elizabeth has volunteered for art fundraisers, curated art shows, completed artist-in-schools programs, instructed art classes and worked in local galleries.
Elizabeth is an independent spirit, a need to create her own style of work rather that suit the conventional marketplace. Inspired by her love of the mountains, ocean, travel and culture - her body of work steps outside the box of using traditional canvas and instead she repurposed old, used and abandoned skateboards, snowboards, and surfboards to convey her art.
Sidewayz is a collection of pieces that's inspired by being submerged in the sideways riding culture. Absorbing and expressing the artistry that is intermixed with seeing the world through a goofy footed stance. Sidewayz represents the culture that is created through mountains, ocean and urban perspectives.
